Data and methods
Every number on CoCPlanner comes from a source you can check, every formula is written down, and every assumption is on the page next to the result. This page is the fine print behind that promise.
Data sources
All upgrade costs, build times, research times, Town Hall requirements and building counts are compiled from the Clash of Clans Wiki on Fandom, snapshot taken 2026-10-11. The dataset currently covers:
- 44 home village buildings and traps (defenses, army buildings, resource buildings, town hall) with per-level cost, time and TH requirement, plus how many of each exist per Town Hall level;
- 19 wall levels with per-segment costs, resource options and TH requirements, plus wall counts per TH;
- 4 heroes with every upgrade level (cost, time, TH requirement);
- 12 pets with their upgrade levels;
- 48 troops and spells with every laboratory research level. Research levels are gated by laboratory level on the wiki; we map laboratory level to Town Hall using the laboratory building table (lab level 1 at TH3 through lab level 16 at TH18).
Supercell can change values in any update. When a reader reports a mismatch we recheck the wiki and record the fix in the changelog.
Known gaps and flags
- Home village only. Builder Base and Clan Capital upgrades are not included.
- Snapshot, not live. Values reflect the wiki on 2026-10-11. Patch notes and new Town Hall drops can lag in the wiki by days.
- Edge quirks kept as-is. For example, the wiki lists Barracks levels 2 and 3 as TH1 with a footnote that they practically require TH2; we record TH1 and note the quirk.
- Hero equipment. Blacksmith equipment upgrades use ores, not gold/elixir/dark elixir, and are excluded from totals (the Blacksmith building itself is included).
- Builder Base-linked extras (extra builder slots, builder apprentices) are not modeled; the planner caps builders at 6.
The math, exactly
Upgrade cost calculator
For a chosen item, the total is the plain sum of the wiki cost values for every level between your current and target level. Nothing is averaged, estimated or interpolated.
Cost to max a Town Hall segment
For Town Hall X, each building contributes: existing copies (count at TH X minus new slots) pay for the levels newly available at TH X; newly unlocked slots pay for their full chain from level 1. Walls contribute the per-level cost times the wall count available at TH X. Heroes, pets and research contribute the levels their TH gating unlocks. "From TH X" totals sum segments X through 18.
Builder scheduling
Inside each Town Hall segment, upgrade jobs are sorted longest first and each job is assigned to the builder who becomes free earliest (an LPT list schedule, guaranteed within 4/3 of the optimal makespan). Segments run in Town Hall order. Heroes run as one sequential track per hero, pets as one track per pet, and the laboratory as a single shared track, all in parallel with builders. The projected finish date is the longest of these tracks.
Date projection
Finish dates are "now" plus the computed seconds. Calendar reality (builders sleeping, loot droughts, vacations) is on you; the assumptions are listed next to every result.
What is deliberately not modeled
Gold Pass and event discounts, builder boosts, research potions, books, wall rings, and free-to-play gem spending. All results are the raw, undiscounted worst case.
Editorial policy
- Corrections: reported errors are rechecked against the wiki and fixed in the next build; the changelog records every data change.
- Dates: "last reviewed" dates change only when we actually recheck the underlying data or rewrite the guidance, never for cosmetic reasons.
- AI disclosure: the data pipeline and page drafts are machine-assisted, then reviewed and tested by the team before publishing (unit tests cover the math; see the repository).
- No fake numbers: no invented ratings, testimonials or usage counts anywhere on the site.
